Making an arrest
- Give the command: “Police. Hands where I can see them.”
- Handcuff the person (default J) and describe it:
/me takes hold of his wrists and applies handcuffs. - Tell them they are under arrest, and what for.
- Read them their rights (the wording is in chapter 17).
- Search them. Take illegal items and anything that is evidence.
- Ask if they are hurt. If they are, call EMS and wait.
- Put them in the patrol car and tell dispatch you are transporting.
- Process them at the station (chapter 10).
LEO-9.1 Handcuffs come with roleplay.
The handcuff key is for a person who has had a command and a chance to comply. Describe the action every time.
LEO-9.2 Keep a detention moving.
A detained person hears why they are being held. If ten minutes pass with no question, no search and no decision, let them go.
LEO-9.3 Search what the law allows.
A pat-down on a detention. A full search on an arrest. A home or a warehouse only with a signed warrant (chapter 11).
LEO-9.4 Take what the law allows.
Seize illegal items and evidence: marked bills, drugs, unlicensed weapons, stolen goods. Legal property goes back to the person when they are released.
LEO-9.5 No arrests at the hospital door.
Do not wait at the hospital to arrest a character coming out of a respawn. That character no longer remembers the scene (§3.5), and the hospital is a green zone (§3.10). If you identified them before they went down, write it up and ask for a warrant.
