- Take the person to the cells at the station.
- Identify them from their ID card, or through the MDT if they carry none.
- Write the incident report in the MDT: what happened, what evidence you have, who was there.
- Add the charges. Charges, fines and sentence lengths follow the city’s penal code.
- If the person asks for a lawyer and one is on duty, call them and wait up to ten minutes.
- Enter the fine and the sentence.
- Send the person to prison to serve the sentence, or release them.
LEO-10.1 Charge what you can prove.
No adding charges to raise the sentence. If the evidence does not hold, release the person.
LEO-10.2 Prison time is real time.
A sentence is served in the prison, in real time. If a prisoner disconnects to skip it, report it in a ticket with your clip.
LEO-10.3 No punishment outside the sentence.
Process people without delay. Nobody is left sitting in a cell as a lesson.
LEO-10.4 The court can undo an arrest.
The Department of Justice can dismiss a charge or throw out a bad arrest. When that happens, the person is released and you do not rearrest them for the same thing.
